For City of Moreton Bay businesses trying to produce more photography, video, podcasts and social media without heading into Brisbane, Sophie Wyllie believes there has been something missing.
So she decided to fill the VOID.
The Managing Director of Lange Creative Lab is also behind VOID Studio, a purpose-built content studio at 6/88 Flinders Parade, North Lakes, created after her agency repeatedly encountered the same problems when hiring spaces for client shoots.
“I saw a big gap in the market in terms of content spaces for hire,” Sophie said.
“There were too many white and beige studios. There was a lot of dressing up a space just to dress it back down again and taking up half booking time.”
VOID takes a deliberately different approach. Its facilities include 13 coloured backdrops, two dedicated photography spaces, lighting ranging from warm and white through to RGB, a podcasting lounge, makeup station, kitchenette and coworking desk.
A studio assistant is also included with bookings to help with equipment, set-up, pack-down and backdrop changes.
For businesses, the model means one booking can potentially produce product photography, brand imagery, video and social content across several different sets rather than paying for a studio that delivers a single look.
Bookings start at two hours and can extend to eight-hour days or consecutive days, with additional equipment available to hire through the online booking system.
The studio is also designed to be accessible to businesses that do not have an internal marketing team, photographer or videographer. Lange Creative Lab can step in to provide creative direction, photography, filming and editing, while its content packages can incorporate the cost of hiring VOID.
Sophie said North Lakes made sense because businesses across the region could access the studio without travelling into Brisbane.
“North Lakes is in the heart of Moreton Bay. Everyone knows how to get to it, everyone knows where it is,” Sophie said.
The longer-term ambition extends beyond studio hire. VOID is preparing to launch an end-to-end podcasting service and Sophie wants the space to host workshops, content days, design sprints and community events, with additional locations also a possibility.
“I would really love to see VOID Studio become the creative hub of Moreton Bay that people can rely on and utilise for all of their content marketing,” Sophie said.
For local businesses increasingly expected to produce a steady stream of digital content, VOID’s opportunity is straightforward: give them the facilities, equipment and production support to do more of that work within the City of Moreton Bay.
Free equipment hire this spring
Businesses and creators looking to put the studio to use can take advantage of free equipment hire on full-day bookings from September 1 to November 30.
The offer is limited to four equipment items per booking, with Sophie saying it could save users hundreds, or potentially thousands, of dollars depending on the equipment required.
