University of the Sunshine Coast has unveiled long-term plans for its Moreton Bay campus at Petrie.
The masterplans for UniSC’s 10.5 hectare precinct at Moreton Bay Central have been developed in partnership with Moreton Bay City Council.
They show how the campus will grow alongside the student population, which is predicted to double to more than 10,000 by 2035.
New artist impressions follow the signing of a Cooperation Agreement that will see the University and Council work together, with equal representation on a steering committee.
“Moreton Bay is one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions and UniSC is proud to be growing alongside it,” UniSC Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Helen Bartlett said.
“This agreement provides a framework for the University, Council and industry to work together to create new opportunities for students, researchers and the wider community.
“It makes the precinct more attractive to third-party developers and co-investors that can support student placements, education, research and commercial possibilities, alongside UniSC’s strategic priorities.

“The precinct will transform into a ‘living lab’ with an innovation ecosystem which spans research and development, incubation, acceleration and commercialisation.”
UniSC Moreton Bay opened in 2020 and offers more than 100 study programs, including nursing science, education, engineering, computer science and business, as well as the Tertiary Preparation Program offering a pathway to university study.
“This Cooperation Agreement provides a clear framework for UniSC and Council to guide the future of the Petrie site and its role as an education and knowledge hub for our city,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.
“Investment in the precinct and enhancing a strong partnership with the university reflects our commitment to providing world-class education and job opportunities in Moreton Bay.”
TAFE Queensland and international computing company PsiQuantum will be co-tennants. There’s also potential to expand allied health programs and for a Health and Clinical Education Hub with community clinics and supporting student placements.
The new Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre will be built next to the campus with 12 indoor courts and will be a host venue for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
