The Carers Foundation Australia supports unpaid family carers through specialised wellbeing programs designed to reduce stress, burnout and compassion fatigue. We provide practical and emotional support that helps carers restore their wellbeing, build resilience and feel valued in their vital caring role.
The Carers Foundation Australia is a registered health and education promotion charity dedicated to supporting the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing of unpaid family carers. Our unique carer wellbeing programs help prevent burnout, compassion fatigue and health crisis breakdowns caused by the demands of caring.
Since 2002, more than 10,000 carers have attended our wellness programs, with over 98% of participants reporting a significant reduction in stress following each program. We believe carers deserve to feel supported, valued and empowered while continuing their vital caring roles.
We provide eligible unpaid carers with support at no cost, including:
We support unpaid family carers experiencing stress, exhaustion, social isolation or compassion fatigue. This includes young carers from age 13 through to elderly carers, as well as people caring for loved ones experiencing disability, mental health challenges, cancer, ageing, serious medical conditions or end-of-life care.
We also work alongside health and community service providers to identify and support carers at risk of burnout.
The Carers Foundation Australia received its first government grant in 2017 and has previously held a three-year Flagship Partnership with the Coca-Cola Australia Foundation to deliver wellness programs for young carers.
