While many people know me today as the founder of Hip Hops Brewers, my professional journey began more than 30 years ago as a founding director of SRJ Walker Wayland. Since 1993, I have helped build one of Queensland’s most respected business advisory, accounting and audit firms, supporting everyone from local start-ups and family businesses through to major national and international organisations.
Working alongside business owners for decades gave me a unique insight into what makes businesses succeed. It also fuelled my passion for entrepreneurship, innovation and creating ventures that bring people together.
That passion ultimately led to the creation of Hip Hops Brewers, a proudly independent craft brewery, hospitality venue and community gathering place in the heart of Moreton Bay. Established with a vision to create more than just a brewery, Hip Hops was designed as a destination where local producers, artists, musicians, families and businesses could connect and celebrate the best of our region.
Since opening at The Sheds in Brendale, Hip Hops Brewers has rapidly become one of Moreton Bay’s most recognised hospitality success stories. In 2024, the business was awarded Business of the Year, New Business Excellence, Customer Service Excellence and Food & Agribusiness Excellence at the Moreton Bay Business & Innovation Awards, while I was honoured to receive the Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Beyond business ownership, I remain passionate about mentoring founders, facilitating strategic planning and supporting community initiatives. Whether through Hip Hops Brewers, SRJ Walker Wayland or my involvement with local organisations, my focus has always been on helping people realise opportunities, build meaningful businesses and contribute positively to the communities around them.
